Ascites next to Colon Cancer?

My uncle has have colon cancer for about 6 months. Now he have had ascites drained twice inwardly the last month. Is this a symptom of worsening disease or mets? He think maybe the doctor messed up doing his colon resection, but I do not agree beside him? Any ideas?

Answer:
The ascites, the throng of fluid in the abdominal cavity, can be due to multiple reason. The top on my list would be poor nutrition. The merciful may be unable to involve enough electrolytes if the colon is too short. Yes, near may also be liver malfunction. Also I don`t know due to poor nutrition, hepatits, alcoholic liver disease and yes a possibllity of metastases to the liver that may be causing wrapping up stage liver disease.
Your uncle needs to discuss beside his doctor his concerns and get appropriate answers for himself.
First stale, if he is having ascites frequently after surgery, he probably should be checked out by another doctor. It could parsimonious that some cancer was missed, or it have already metastasized into the liver. It could be a complication of surgery. But either bearing, he needs to be checked out again.
It's rock-hard to say from your description what is going on near your uncle. I would discuss this with the doctor who have all the available facts.

I can convey you what happened beside my 17 year old son. He be diagnosed with a irregular abdominal sarcoma. By the time he was diagnosed he be already stage IV with multiple loads. His primary tumor had 'wept' and seed hundreds of tumors onto his diaphragm and the walls of the abdomen. This process irritates the walls of the belly causing an build up of fluid called ascites.
He be fortunate as he was competent to eliminate 30 pounds of the fluid next to a diuretic. But he was extremely bloated surrounded by the abdomen and fluid within the legs and ankles. As a secondary condition issue he also developed blood clots during this episode.

Ascites can be very discomfited for the patient, but they can drain it or use a diuretic. Unfortunately, contained by many abdominal cases the fluid can return. What I know more or less advanced cases is that this can indicate a progression of disease. It's hard to speak though with your uncle.

My son be able to experience high dose chemo, 2 surgeries, and have come a long, long way since he be first diagnosed. He also underwent an experimental surgery call intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemoperfusion to address the small and microscopic disease on the diaphragm and in the belly. The added benefit to hyperthermic chemoperfusion is that it also treats ascites.
