After a double mastectomy w/o metastasizing, what is the risk of another primary malignancy?
My friend had cancer within one breast, and opted for a double mastectomy. All nodes be clear, and the second breast had no cancer. The doctor say she's in the clear, and won't call for chemo or radiation. Now she wants to know if her risk of developing cancer elsewhere as another primary tumor is more, smaller amount or the same as someone who never have cancer at all. Does anyone know where on earth to look for this info?
Answers:
Some people can own a second or even third primary cancer. There are 'no rules' or any guarantees. With breast cancer some people develop a second cancer after treatment.

Its possible but you never know till your friend get tested. I would recommend her to see physician every once a month since she is not clear of her situation. But then the doctor told her she's clear. I own seen a doctor for cancer and radiate as well couple of years ago and Im still not sure if Im not dangerous . I still go to doctor every month to reassure my form and make sure cancer cell dont return.
