Pacemaker problems?

Ok so I am 15 and have a pacemaker. I messed up my elbow next to sports and need to return with surgery and anesthesia (sp?). Since that will slow down my heart rate significantly, will that affect the pacemaker at all?

Answers:    I'm sure it''l be cool. If you own a pacemaker because your heart races, or fibrillates, afterwards it fires to reset the conduction system and jump your heart rear to the normal rhythm. In that skin, it probably won't fire while you're under, and if it does, it's doing it's chore.
If it fires because your heart beats too slowly next it will fire and keep your heart hammering at a set pace (usually 70 beat per minute) even though you're out.
Your heart rate will slow down because you're conked out, but it's not going to go drastically low.
Talk to the surgeon something like your concerns. She'll have your chart and know what features of pacemaker you have and why you enjoy it.
It's possible, but I would think yer docs will be lying on that. Plus if your heart rate is slowed(bradycardia), your pacemaker should do what it's supposed to and keep your ticker tickin'. Make your doctor aware of your concerns. Your surgeon should be aware of your pacemaker. It shouldn't affect your surgery. They sometimes consult the pacemaker representative to ensure everything is apposite before you are put to sleep. This should not own any affect on your surgery.

Good luck, hope this helps.
