My girlfriend is 47 yrs. old and be diagnosed with liver letdown do to alcohol. Her kidneys are functioning, although the spleen and colon are still inflamed. She is very jaundice and closely of fluid in her abdomin. She have been moved from the hospital because here is nothing more they can do for her and transported to a nursing home. After a stay at hand she is suppose to be moved to Glenbeige. Nothing I have read tell me what her prognosise is. Does anyone have an answer?

I am sorry to right to be heard that the prognosis appears to be poor-the jaundice and abdominal fluid is because her liver has failed-That is adjectives the information i can give because I own not seen her or know the results of her test. One thing is proper -is that to stand any chance of on a winning streak at all -SHE MUST NOT DRINK-if she does?
if she will quit alcohol ,the prognosis might be objective but if not afterwards its bad.jaundice ,swelling of the tummy, vomiting of the blood, blood in stool and infection further end the survival.
Why is she in a nursing home? Is she contained by a coma? Or have other issues that prevent her functioning independently?
Have they tried to slap her abdomen to relieve the fluid build-up from ascites?
Have they started her on actigall to lend a hand clear the jaundice?
If she still has some liver function -- and stops drinking COMPLETELY -- the pull to her spleen and colon could reverse and she could live for awhile.
