My Mom had lung surgery and afterwards got MRSA contained by and around the wound site. She is going to be discharged in a week or so and requirements to come live with me to transport care of her. She will come home beside a wound vac still attached. I have 2 small children....Is this something I should be concerned in the order of??? Could she infect them??

I would be concerned roughly speaking your small children and check with your doctor formerly she comes to stay with you. Only if they come into direct contact next to the infected wound through a wound or mucus membrane of their own (like if they touch her infected wound then put their fingers surrounded by their eyes, nose or mouth.) Sounds gross, but explicitly what they would have to do. And you should also wear gloves when doing anything around her wound nouns. Make sure you dispose of used dressings--don't leave them out. You know, a moment ago normal precautions that you would cart with any infection.

as others hold said, MRSA is pretty catchy. I'm a MLT intern and MRSA is a big issue. We actually enjoy lists of the citizens who have it. It is greatly associated near hospital infections and can hurt people who enjoy weak immune systems, the exceedingly old and the especially young. Many inhabitants can carry this germs without getting sick and verbs it easily. That's the problem within hospitals. we are trying to stop the spread...but it's not working. the user who posted earlier me doesn't know much about the spread, man a drug researcher. i dont mean to be rude, but this soul doesnt know what he/she is talking more or less. these bacteria are small...noticeably. you dont know if youve got it completely contained. adjectives it takes is one. and the certainty that its resistant to broad spectrum antibiotics....thats why MRSA is such a big deal.

You really can't guarantee that your kids will be totally secure from the bug. not to be morbid, but there's not alot you can keep them safe and sound from....youd have to hang on to them in a bubble to save them away from various bacteria/viruses. Ask your mom's doctor if it's a problem for your kids. They will know for sure and much more competent to advise you!
