For normal insulin used within the uk, 12u = 0.12ml/cc and 24u = 0.24ml/cc. We changed over to this concentration quite a long time ago, but some countries (eg India i think) still use a diff concentration of insulin which would obiously afford a diff amount.

a unit is usually eqivilant to a 1/100 of a cc on the 100u syringes. so 1 unit=.1 cc.5u=.5cc..12u=.12cc. cc is indistinguishable as ml.
