Eye problems?
Ok i am 14 years old almost 15 and I go to the Eye Doctor yesterday for a new perscription and to go and get my eyes checked and she said that I have a freckle surrounded by my retina.. she stressed the fact that it be big.. she said sometimes they are cancerous but there is a small opening and she thought it looked smooth and flat so she didnt think it be cancerous. I am going to another eye doctor tommorow to see what he says afterwards i might go to a retina specialist. have anyone ever seen this until that time or does any one know the possibility that it is cancer. Any one know anything else about it?
Answers: I've worked for four retina specialists for olden times seven years and I have see this problem many times. You should see a retina specialist who have a B-Scan. A B-Scan is not painful, and it can means the size of the freckle. It's only an ultrasound, lately like the ones they do on pregnant women. Big freckles normally end up mortal cancerous. If the size of the freckle doesn't change than it's probably not. Another tryout you can have done is a liver function try-out. All this intails is having some blood draws. Tumors of the retina are usually created by cancer contained by the liver. That's why liver function tests are central if your retina specialist thinks you may hold a cancerous tumor in your eye. Good luck kid.
