oooh! I a moment ago read about this. If the creature was blind from birth, they dream essentially in sounds. A woman, blind since birth, recall a dream that she had. She said that her brother and sister-in-law be fighting at the dinner table. She could smell the food and hear the noise of dinner (chewing, forks againts plates etc.) After the couple finished fighting, the husband get up and left the room. As a blind soul, she lived her life base on noises, things that you or I would dismiss as surroundings noise, a blind human being will pick up. Even something as small as the change surrounded by the noise of the atmosphere when a person leaves a room is audible to them. They did brain scan (fMRI) of several blind people who be in REM sleep. They found that the temporal lobs of their brains (the lobes associated next to hearing and auditory processing) be the most active, as opposed near someone in REM who have full vision whose occipital lobe (visusal processing) is most helpful. Also, a woman who was not blind at birth, who go blind when she was 6 or 7 said that at first she dreamed of similes, but slowly the images begin to fade and her dreams were more base around sound. So I guess the indisputable question here is what do the blind AND deaf dream almost?
