Antibiotics for acne. Lasting results?
I have tried only about everything else...only munch through the right foods and i detox...still problematic. Do the effects of oral antibiotics last after the round is completed?
Answer: Unfortunately, no. The antibiotics only m¨ºl¨¦e the infection while you continue taking them. Home/natural/detox therapies don't really work for acne. It's a dermatological disorder of the skin cause by an improper shedding of skin cells and an pile of cellular debris, sebum and bacteria inside the spine follicle and sebaceous gland.
The only medication that provides relief even after you stop taking it is Accutane/isotretinoin. It if truth be told shrinks the oil glands in the skin and provides long-term remission for several people who suffer from acne. There is a new neutral therapy (using BlueLight/ClearLight, called PhotoDynamic Therapy) which can provide Accutane-like results, but it is not covered by insurance, and the salvage period from that is usually roughly speaking a week to 10 days. Multiple treatments are usually required.
A good skincare regimen is usually required for acne control -- that includes an acne-fighting facial cleanser and a leave-on acne treatment. These products include either benzoyl peroxide, salicylic tart, or sulfur. If over-the-counter products are not strong enough to control your acne, then you want to consult a dermatologist for more aggressive therapies. Good luck!
